The Dye Pot: Indigo

I love the idea of connecting with the ancient practice of natural dyeing with indigo. It’s amazing to me that people thousands of years ago were dyeing their textiles with plant matter to colour their fabrics. I’ve had some fun playing with indigo over the past few years: playing with stitching, folding, rope and other random scrunchie techniques. I fortunately found supplies quite locally at The Fibre Garden in Jordan, ON.

Indigo Recipe:
soda ash (sodium carbonate), Indigo–Pre-reduced, and thiourea dioxide
